There is A. sharp division of views on housing among the councillors. This ia partly due to different approaches and understasing of the task and implication of housing provision. One view focused on the range and availability of different types of housing and the other on affordabilitv . An area where Councillors seem to be in the agreement concerns the importance of balancing housing provision with employment provision to prevent Tiverton becoming a dormitory town. At present, Tiveren provides a substantial amount of the employment for residents in the town and from surrounding villages.
